Frittata with smoked salmon and green asparagus

10 minutes + 25 minutes oven

Frittata with smoked salmon and green asparagus: the most beautiful and delicious dish for your breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner or snack. And it is also easy to adapt to the season. Are asparagus not in season? Then go for zucchini, broccoli, spinach or pumpkin, for example.

What is a frittata?

A frittata is an Italian egg dish similar to a thick omelet or quiche without the crust. It is made by mixing beaten eggs with various ingredients such as vegetables, cheese, meat, and herbs. Unlike a classic omelet, where the filling remains in the center, in a frittata, the ingredients are mixed through the egg mixture.

The origin of the frittata is in Italy, where it was originally made as a simple way to use up leftovers. The word "frittata" comes from "friggere," which means "to bake." Today, the frittata is loved worldwide for its versatility, simplicity and the fact that it is delicious both hot and cold.

Protein-rich frittata

A frittata is naturally a high-protein dish, as eggs are an excellent source of protein. This makes it a nutritious choice for those looking for a filling and high-energy meal. However, adding ingredients such as salmon and cottage cheese makes the frittata even more nutritious and protein-rich. Salmon is rich in high-quality protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which contribute to a healthy heart and brain. Cottage cheese, a low-fat cheese variety, is also a great source of protein and is low in fat.

The combination of these ingredients in a frittata creates a dish that not only tastes delicious, but also helps with muscle recovery and satiety. This makes it a smart choice for athletes, people watching their weight, or anyone looking for a nutritious and protein-rich breakfast, lunch or dinner that gives them long-lasting energy.
