French toast made from Christmas bread

Christmas bread French toast is the perfect post-Christmas recipe. Do you have leftover Christmas bread or Christmas toast from the holidays and don't know what to do with it? Perhaps it has gotten a little dried out or tough. No problem! You can make these delicious French toast from Christmas bread. This way you can breathe new life into your Christmas bread and also be sustainable by not wasting any food. I personally love sweet breakfasts. The caramelized banana is therefore a very tasty addition. I also added coconut as a finishing touch. Of course, you can also just make these French toast from "new" Christmas bread. This way you can make your Christmas brunch just a little more exciting.

What you need:

4 slices of Christmas bread
or Christmas cake
1 egg
100 ml of milk
1 tsp cinnamon
butter for frying
pinch of salt
1 banana
2 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. grated coconut

What to do:

Beat the egg together with the milk, cinnamon and some salt.

Heat a knob of butter in a frying pan and let the pan get well hot. Then turn down the heat.

Dip each slice of bread into the mixture and flip briefly to the other side so that both sides are well coated. Place in the pan and bake until golden brown and crispy on both sides.

Meanwhile, slice the banana. When all the French toast is done, remove it from the pan and fry the banana for another 1 minute on each side until golden brown.

Serve the French toast with the caramelized banana, honey and some coconut zest.
