Camembert from the oven

20 minutes

Cheese is always a good idea and especially when we are talking about this camembert from the oven. This vegetarian appetizer went viral on the Internet for a while and I can see why. In no time at all, you put a sort of mini cheese fondue on the table that you can dip in deliciously.

What is camembert?

Camembert is a popular French cheese known worldwide for its creamy texture and mild, earthy flavor. It is a soft, raw milk cheese traditionally made from cow's milk. Camembert has a characteristic white, edible rind that develops during the aging process. This delicious cheese is also available just at any supermarket these days. You have inexpensive varieties and slightly more expensive ones. I would advise you not to get the very cheapest one for this recipe, as it often does not melt well.

Through on camembert. The cheese is poured into round molds and then aged, with enzymes and bacteria breaking through the cheese during this process and developing its texture and flavor. During aging, the distinctive soft and creamy inside develops, while the outside develops a velvety, white rind. Love it!

Camembert is often eaten as a dessert cheese or as part of a cheeseboard and can be served either at room temperature or heated. It is also popular for melting, where it is used as an ingredient in various dishes, such as on pizza, in pasta, on bread or as a dip. And the latter is exactly what this recipe is all about!

Camembert from the oven

Camembert from the oven is really just ultimate food porn. No matter how you look at it, everyone goes good on such a fantastic cheesepull, right? This camembert from the oven is also extremely easy to make and it serves as the perfect vegetarian appetizer on any drinks board. As I mentioned earlier, though, it's important to go for a slightly "more expensive" camembert. Not the 1 euro one from the refrigerated section ;). It does not melt as well. I used for example this from the Albert Heijn supermarket. After that, it is important to rub the top of the cheese well with olive oil and the honey, pepper and salt are also really a must. After that, you can go wild with your own toppings. I chose chili flakes and a spice mix, but you could also add fruit (blackberries) or nuts. Choose what you like!
