Healthy brownie with caramel

35 minutes

A healthy brownie with caramel? It may sound too good to be true, but it really is possible! This brownie is full of flavor and it is a perfect snack for anyone looking for something delicious and healthy for in between meals. The base for these healthy brownies is oatmeal. Oatmeal is a rich source of fiber and protein. The caramel is made with the natural sweetener agave and peanut butter. As a result, this brownie contains less sugar and fat than the traditional variety.

Making healthy caramel

Do you love caramel, but want a healthier version without refined sugar? Good news! With natural ingredients like agave syrup and peanut butter, you can easily make a delicious and healthier caramel.

Agave syrup is a natural sweetener that has a lower glycemic index than regular sugar. This means your blood sugar doesn't rise as quickly, making it a healthier choice. Peanut butter not only adds a creamy texture, but also contains healthy fats and proteins that help you feel satiated longer.

This caramel fits perfectly into a healthier brownie variation. By replacing traditional sugar and butter with agave syrup and peanut butter, you reduce the sugar and fat content without sacrificing flavor. The result? A creamy, flavorful brownie with a delicious caramel coating that is both nutritious and delectable.

Want to try this healthier caramel for yourself? Melt agave syrup and peanut butter over low heat until smooth. Use it as a topping for brownies or as a dip for fruit. This way you can enjoy a sweet treat without guilt!

What you need:

9
For the brownie
2 bananas
2 eggs
180 gr oatmeal
200 ml milk of your choice
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp chocolate chips
pinch of salt
For the healthy caramel
3 tbsp peanut butter
3 tbsp. honey or agave syrup
pinch of sea salt

What to do:

1

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and grease a square baking pan (or line it with baking paper).

2

Put the bananas, eggs, milk, oatmeal, oil, cocoa powder, the vanilla extract and baking powder in a blender and blend until you get a smooth batter. Then stir the chocolate chips into the batter.

3

Now make the healthy caramel by mixing the agave syrup with the peanut butter and a pinch of salt. Drizzle 3/4 of the caramel over the brownie and spread by swirling or ‘swirling’ the caramel into the batter with the back of a spoon.

4

Pour the batter into the baking dish and gently tap the countertop a few times to remove all air bubbles.

5

Slide the brownie into the oven for 20 minutes and then let it cool for a while before cutting it.

6

Serve with the remaining caramel and a pinch of coarse sea salt.
