Making your own pulled chicken

Making your own pulled chicken is a great way to create a flavorful and versatile meal that you can use in a variety of ways. The process of pulled chicken involves slowly cooking chicken until it is so tender that it easily falls apart. This makes it perfect for a juicy and flavorful filling in things like wraps, sandwiches, salads or even as a topping for a pizza.

The beauty of pulled chicken is that you can prepare it in different ways, depending on your preferences. Cooking the chicken slowly in a stew pot, slow cooker or in the oven gives the meat time to fully absorb the spices and flavors. The result is a deliciously tender and flavorful dish that is easy to pull apart with a fork.

Pulled chicken is an ideal choice for busy weekday nights because it is relatively quick to make and you can use it to prepare many different dishes. It can also be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator, making it an excellent option for meal prepping. It's a versatile dish that you can customize with all kinds of spices, sauces and seasonings, making new variations every time.

What you need:

2
2 chicken breasts
300 gr
400 gr green beans
100 ml soy sauce
50 ml of soy sauce
2 cloves of garlic
1 cube of chicken stock
2 tbsp. honey
1 stalk of spring onion
1 shallot
1 tsp sesame seeds
pepper
olive oil

What to do:

1

Bring a large pan of water to a boil and crumble the stock cube over it. Place the (raw) chicken breasts in it and cook the chicken for 15-20 minutes until you feel you can easily pull it loose. Next, you are going to make the pulled chicken. Remove the chicken from the water and pull apart with two forks. Tip: You can also use a kitchen blender in a bowl to pull the chicken apart.

2

Now bring two pans of water to a boil and in one cook the rice until tender according to the package directions. Clean the green beans and cook them in the other pan for 10 minutes. Taste to see if you think they are done or if they need longer before draining.

3

Meanwhile, finely chop the garlic and spring onion and chop the shallot. Heat a dash of olive oil in a pan and fry the shallot in it. Then add the pulled chicken along with the soy sauce, honey, garlic and half of the chopped spring onion. Bring to a gentle boil and simmer until the sauce thickens and sticks to the chicken. Season a little more with a pinch of pepper.

4

Serve the pulled chicken with the rice and green beans and top with some sesame seeds and the remaining spring onion (and optionally fresh parsley or cilantro).
