Quick syrup waffle cinnamon rolls are just the kind of tasty snack that will get your heart racing.

Recipes with stroopwafel

My favorite cookie is the stroopwafel! Ever since I was little, I have loved eating them. We used to always make them warm in the microwave at home. Then the syrup got nice and warm and sticky. So delicious! Nowadays I use syrup waffles regularly in my baking or oatmeal recipes. I always get these mini syrup wafers At the HEMA. I like those the best. I previously made this syrup waffle brownie and these syrup waffle overnight oats along.

Quick syrup waffle cinnamon rolls

For these treacle-waffle cinnamon rolls, I used my basic recipe for naan! To this I added speculaas spices to create a nice sweet taste. To make the cinnamon rolls nice and round, I cut them with dental floss. A super handy lifehack for the kitchen. Before they go in the oven, I sprinkle them with some melted butter, caster sugar and extra pieces of syrup waffle for the perfect finishing touch. These quick syrup waffle cinnamon rolls are a lot healthier than a regular cinnamon roll, and they're also much quicker to make because they don't need to rise!

What you need:

100 gr self-rising baking flour
+ extra to dust
75 ml of yogurt
1 tsp. specula spice
pinch of salt
8 mini stroopwafels
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp brown caster sugar
+ extra for on top
2 tbsp. powdered sugar
1 tbsp water
+/- 7 pieces

What to do:

1

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line a baking pan, baking dish or baking sheet with baking paper.

2

Put the self-rising baking flour together with the yogurt, speculaaskruiden and the salt in a bowl. Mix with a spatula and and then knead into a ball of dough with your hands.

3

Cut the syrup wafers into small cubes.

4

Dust your countertop with baking flour and knead the ball well for a moment. Then roll out with a rolling pin into a sheet.

5

Melt the butter and use 3/4 of it to coat the piece of dough. Mix the cinnamon with the caster sugar and spread over the butter. Also spread the treacle wafer on top. Keep a little bit behind for on top. Roll up the dough and cut out 7 equal pieces with floss.

6

Place the treacle-waffle cinnamon rolls on the baking sheet. Brush the tops with the remaining butter and sprinkle with a little caster sugar. Spread the remaining stroopwafel pieces on top as well and slide into the oven for 15-20 minutes.
