In September 2024, during the food photography retreat in Ibiza, I had a dream job: a shoot at Sake & Noodle bar Supun. As a true lover of ramen and bao, I couldn't be happier. Supun is the place in Ibiza for Asian comfort food and the vibe of the bar was exactly what I was hoping for. Think tattooed chefs with a rock 'n' roll vibe, steaming bowls of ramen and colorful bao's full of surprising flavors. The atmosphere was raw, urban and at the same time relaxed: a perfect match for the style of food photography I wanted to capture.
The combination of the rugged interior, the chefs' tattooed arms and the explosion of color in the dishes made for killer photos. The setting was playful and dynamic, and it showed in the photos. The dishes came alive; the shine of the broth in the ramen, the soft dough of the baos, and the beautiful layers in the cocktails. Every element worked together perfectly.
For me as a ramen fan, this was the ultimate shoot. The energy of the place, the food and the cocktails inspired me tremendously, and I knew the photos would be fantastic. And they were: the pics are amazing. Each photo tells a story of taste, passion and craftsmanship. It was one of those moments where everything comes together: my love for food, photography and the amazing atmosphere of Supun.
